First Challenge

Now that I have my own blog I decided to enter into a challenge after seeing so many of you very talented people entering into the fabulous challenges which are held each week.

This is my first EVER entry, I am kind of happy with it but maybe I went a little crazy with putting so much on the card,  I have to start somewhere right.

This entry is for the Exploring Cricut challenge titled "Summer Fun". The challenge was to create a card, layout or papercraft using at least 3 cricut cuts, 2 pattern papers and 1 embellishment of a summer activity or any summer event.

I am also entering this card into Krafty Girls challenge, no. 10 'Fun in the Sun' which was to include elements that remind you of summer or something you do to have fun in the sun.

I chose the seaside/beach for my theme, who doesn't hit the beach when it sunny outside.

I used 'Create a Critter' to make the cuts on this easel card.  To create the waves in the water I simply ripped pieces of blue cardstock to expose the lighter centre core.  The Whale was adhered between the waves.
To make the cloud I cut the shape (create a critter) from adhesive cardstock, I then adhered the shape to a cotton pad (can be found in most women's cleansing bags) and used scissors to trim the excess of the cotton pad in the shape of the cloud.  I think it makes a great embellishment.
To make the stopper for this easel card I used 3 different sized starfish. The 'sand' is ribbed kraft cardstock.

Checklist for Exploring Cricut:
At least 3 Cricut cuts: Whale, Sun, Crab, Sandcastle, Starfish, Cloud and Phrase (I think that covers it)
2 patterned papers: Dotty Yellow for the Sun & Stripy Blue for the Whale
1 embellishment: Cotton for the cloud.

I am so happy to find challenges like this, if you want to join in please pay a visit to Exploring Cricut you can also find lots of great inspiration from the design team too.

Thanks for stopping by
